Yanagita Distillery

Founded in 1902, Yanagita Distillery Co., Ltd. has been run by the Yanagita family. It is currently run by the fifth-generation president,master brewer and ex-engineer, Tadashi Yanagita. The distillery is where he played as a child, where he'd lived and learnt. When the opportunity came to him to start working at the distillery, he was amazed at how natural it was to be there.

Traditional techniques such as making Shochu is not easy. He occasionally found himself feeling enormous pressure from the tradition. He saw an unfavorable wind challenging him with no mercy.

He closed his eyes and remembered, "Taking over a tradition is to stack up new creations". He seized the moment and continued making Shochu that he believed in. Tadashi says that he will never forget the teachings of predecessors who taught him to experience the fun of producing new creations. He uses his unique expertise into pouring passion and love to create "the one and only shochu that no one has ever seen or tasted before"

Yanagita Distillery strives with its tradition of 112 years.
